Frequently Asked Questions

  • We’re currently on a Spring Break. Follow us on social media and sign up for our newsletter to hear the news first of upcoming sauna locations!

  • Sauna sessions are available to book online. Visit the Booking Page and choose between a Community Sauna Session (shared with the public) or a Private Sauna Session (all to yourself).

Walkups are also welcome, but booking ahead is faster, easier and will guarantee your space is saved upon arrival.

  • Sauna on Kuuma has a single person changing room onsite. Most of our sauna goers like to arrive with their swimsuit already on with loose fitting clothing on top (like sweats, workout clothes or a robe).

This makes the beginning and end of their sauna experience a breeze.

If you need to use the changing room, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes before your session to get ready :)

  • A 60 minute Community Sauna Session costs $20/person. (Community Sauna Sessions are capped at 5 people so you’ll always have plenty of space - even if full).

A 60-minute Private Sauna Session can be booked for $85/hour. (You can bring as many people as you’d like to a private session, but only 6 people are allowed in the Sauna’s hot room at any given time).

To book either session, please visit our Booking Page.

  • Required: Swimsuit

Recommended: Towel and/or robe, refillable water bottle, sandals/crocs/slippers, clothes that are easy to change into.

Note: hydrating throughout your sauna is an essential part of the experience.

  • We offer a small basket to each guest for placing their belongings. Sauna on Kuuma is not responsible for lost or stolen items. We recommend locking your valuables in your car or leaving them at home.

  • Taking a sauna is easy, all you need to do is show up! Before each session, we walk our guests through the sauna experience and answer any questions you may have. We like to follow the four step Nordic Cycle: hot, cold, rest, repeat.

We encourage you to find the flow that works best for you. Instead of following a clock, or your friends, do what feels good and healthy for you. We feel it’s important to listen to your body.

If you feel dizzy or unwell while in the sauna, leave immediately to cool down. Make sure to hydrate with water before, during, and after using the sauna.

  • Children of any age can use saunas, but some experts recommend children under 6 years old avoid high-temperature heat exposure. This is because young children can't regulate their body temperature as well as adults. However, every child is different. If you have any questions, consult a pediatrician before allowing your child to try their first sauna.

At Sauna on Kuuma, anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by and have the permission of a parent or legal guardian.

  • At Sauna on Kuuma we recommend,

    • No outside shoes inside the steam room.

    • Wear your swimsuit while enjoying your session.

    • Close the steam room door quickly when entering/exiting!

    • Use the ladle to pour water onto the rocks — please don’t pour the whole bucket.

    • Remove jewelry and eyeglasses/contact lenses before entering

  • In the Finnish language, “kuuma” translates to “hot.” As a child, Shawnee fondly remembers her Finnish grandparents lighting up the family sauna stove and saying “Sauna on Kuuma” when the sauna was ready to go. In short, Sauna on Kuuma means The Sauna is Ready.
